Jeep Wrangler JK Windshield Guards Add Protection from Paint-Scraping Trees
Mar 27th 2023
When it comes to armoring up a Jeep Wrangler, people tend to apply a “bottom up” mentality. Skid plates, bumpers, and rocker guards all typically take priority when considering armor upgrades. The highest up the vehicle most people think about armor is for fenders.
If you been through dry brush trails in the desert or done any degree of forest trekking, you may have noticed that higher parts of your vehicle can also be prone to scrapes. These come mostly from paint-scratching contact with branches protruding roots, if not the occasional kicked up rock when riding in a line with a group.
Tub panels and corner guards can help with these but the most overlooked part of your Wrangler is probably the A pillars along the sides of your windshield. We noticed this gap in available armor at GenRight and set our engineers to coming up with a solution.
The result is GenRight Windshield Armor for Jeep Wrangler JK and JKU. We make these from heavy duty 3/16" steel. We go with steel instead of aluminum because there are some spots where strength is more important that saving a few pounds.
Let’s just say the Jeep Wrangler windshield pillars are not the strongest part of the body design. Just look at rolled over jeeps and you will see that the front caves in almost every time unless a full body cage was in installed. Our windshield armor will not reinforce the pillars enough to support a rollover but they will help protect the paint and provide some degree of added support.
The wraparound design protects both the front-facing and side-facing portions of your windshield pillars.
Like all of our GenRight products, the Jeep Wrangler JK Windshield Armor is made-in-America. They also use existing factory bolts/holes to facilitate installation, except for the upper bolts, which we include in the package. They are also attractively priced.
