Teraflex Hi Steer Knuckle

P/N:
STK-TF44

This is the TeraFlex Hi Steer Knuckle for the Dana 30 and Dana 44 front axles.

Why Hi Steer? Hi Steer corrects all the issues associated with the steering on lifted vehicles by lifting up and leveling out the drag link (the link from steering box to knuckle). In addition, by separating the drag link and tie rod you can then flip the tie rod to the other side of the knuckle and raise up the tie rod about 3" up away from most trail obstacles. Still don't believe us? Take a look at any top notch trail rig and it will have Hi-Steering.

FEATURES:

  • Raises Drag Link and Tie Rod for better steering geometry
  • Increases ground clearance
  • Reduces the binding experienced while off road driving
  • Reduces effort to turn steering wheel while off road (particularity through twisty obstacles)
  • Knuckle can be used with tie rod ends (standard or H.D. size) or hiem rod ends (with 5/8" through bolts)
  • Heavy Duty casting is beefier than stock

Why Heim rod ends? We prefer the heims over the standard or heavy duty "tapered style" tie rod ends because, over the years we have seen the taper on the tie rod end SPLIT too many steel knuckles! This is the exact same steering set up we have used on our GenRight trail rigs for years, and it works great!

Important NOTES:

  • This kit require pressing out the ball joints to remove the stock knuckle, so you'll need a ball joint press if you are a do-it-yourself'r.
  • This knuckle is designed for axles 1994 and newer. At that time Jeep changed the ball joint size, brakes and Uni-bearing size.
  • Your stock drag link and tie rod will NOT work. Please order the GenRight CrMo Hi-Steer Kit (STK-8625)
  • If you install the GenRight CrMo Hi-Steer Kit it will require drilling the driverside knuckle tapers out with a 5/8" diameter drill.
  • This kit requires moving the axle side trac bar mounting location to match the new higher drag link position!!!
  • It may be necessary to modify the factory front sway bar mounts, at the axle side.
  • Once your steering is installed, you MUST cycle the front suspension and steering (in all possible direction combinations) to make sure the ball joints or hiems DO NOT exceed their range of motion which would damage the steering components and could cause a failure resulting in a loss of steering control!

Installed this on my 95’ YJ with a Dana 30 soa lift in combination with the genright drag link/ tie rod kit It is so much stronger looking than the original knuckle and it’s a high quality made part. It was super easy to install and came drilled for 5/8” bolts already. Highly recommend
